New Deal for Lesotho Cyclists
Mark West
27/04/10
The President of Lesotho Cycling Association announced a ‘New Deal’ policy at the recent Annual General Meeting held on 24/04/2010.
Sechaba Khoetsa, re-
He noted that Lesotho is a beautiful country and we should strive to make things happen here. His dream is to see at least two major cycling events happening annually, recalling the Tour de Lesotho classic race, which used to be an annual event. He hinted on the possibility of a major MTB race in the pipelines. Our continued relationships with Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), Lesotho Sports & Recreation Commission (LSRC) and Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) were also cited as key to the development.
Mr. Khoetsa stressed that this ‘New Deal’ would embrace all who want to be involved in cycling in Lesotho, and not discriminate according to past allegiances. The ‘New Deal’ will be fair and transparent in selecting national team athletes; will expand the growth of the cycling sport nationwide; will positively seek development in youth and women categories and will not overlook the veterans.
As well as the customary reports, the AGM passed amendments to the Constitution to decrease the term of office of the President & Executive Committee from five years to two years and to clarify that membership of the Association will no longer be available to individual persons (only clubs, teams etc.).
